Salt in the air is like salt on the road

January 13, 2012

I expected high winds, driving sleet, and some snow filled roads.  What I got was three inches of side-of-the-road slush, heavy mist, and wet center pavement.  The benefits of being surrounded by salt water.

The latest storm’s rain line must have cross just to the west as the only hazard this morning was the shock of instantly wet feet.  It is consistently warmer here than it is at the other end of the causeway during the winter months.  This can mean some drastic differences in precipitation.  Snow is only snow in Perry.  It’s something much more liquid here.

The slush made for slow going nonetheless.  At least that’s my reasoning.  That and a 4:20 start.  But I felt ok and I’m still progressing according to the plan.

Yesterday was a good day.  It was the first day after 32 days that the pace came in quicker than the run felt.  That was a good feeling.

Excellent. That’s obviously a very good sign and likely the first of many to come.

  2. Glad to hear that the 4:20 starts are beginning to pay off. I’d certainly want to see a return on my investment if I was getting up that early.
